Commitment to Protect the Environment for the Community, PT Tunas Inti Abadi accepts Award for the Best Rehabilitation and Reclamation Activities from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry
Jakarta, 16 March 2023 - PT Tunas Inti Abadi (TIA) is committed to implementing governance sustainable corporate governance is evidenced by appreciation from the Ministry Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in the award ceremony ASN of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) with Achievements and Partners of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) which was held on March 16 2023 at Manggala Wanabakti Building, Jakarta.
One of the business units of PT ABM Investama Tbk (ABM) has been successfully crowned as 'Holder of Forest Area Borrow-to-Use (PPKH) with Commitment Best Sustainability of Rehabilitation and Reclamation Activities' with management locations Watershed (DAS) in Sebamban Baru, Kec. Loban River, Kab. Land Bumbu, South Kalimantan Province. The award was handed over directly by Minister of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Siti Nurbaya.
LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya expressed her appreciation to the 92 KLHK partners who have works wonders because it can provide a new perspective on application sustainability commitment. In addition, partners' performance is assessed beyond what is necessary done.
"This partner does not only work in the field, but thinks, develops, delivers views, new patterns, advice, give a picture of the situation that is extraordinary normal and much needed by the government. I see great appreciation deserves to be given, because what has been given to the nation and state through cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry beyond what it should be. therefore I want convey my congratulations and countless thanks, "said Siti.
TIA Director, Dadik Kiswanto stated TIA's efforts in implementing governance Sustainability is a form of corporate social responsibility that wants to continue make a positive contribution to the environment and society.
“The success of TIA cannot be achieved without the commitment of all parties involved. In efforts to reclamation and rehabilitation of the watershed, the company continues to push the formation of community institutions as corporate partners to participate in rehabilitation maintenance that has a long-lasting impact on the environment” said Dadik.
As the holder of 4 Forest Borrow-to-Use Permits (IPPKH), TIA has obligations to rehabilitate watersheds (DAS) outside the permit area business. The total area of land managed reaches 1,745.10 hectares.
Since operating in 2009, TIA has cleared 1,176.20 hectares of land. The total land reclamation that was successfully carried out reached 834.02 hectares. Besides reclamation activities, the company has carried out watershed rehabilitation with a large area of land planted reached 2017.7 hectares. Of the total TIA watershed rehabilitation land, the Dinas South Kalimantan Province Forestry stated that an area of 1,144.23 hectares was successful or 65% of the total liabilities of IPPKH holders.
In line with the spirit of paradigm shift in favor of the community and Sustainable Natural Resources management, TIA involves the community both the Agency Village Owned Enterprises, forest farmer groups and other community groups as executor of watershed rehabilitation works. This engagement aims to enable the community to experience direct benefits from watershed rehabilitation activities with considering social, economic, and ecological aspects. Especially the selected plants to be planted in rehabilitation areas are high value commodity crops such as rubber, candlenut, durian, rambutan, cempedak, and jengkol. Apart from that, there are also endemic plants such as mahogany and ironwood.
TIA's efforts in carrying out sustainability programs will not stop with rehabilitation and reclamation activities, this is in line with the spirit of implementing ESG carried out by the holding company ABM Investama to continue to pay attention to the impact company activities from a social and environmental perspective future impacts of climate change.
